Recent Annual Pass Price Increases at Walt Disney World

|

It’s October in Central Florida, which means that the chill that you feel in the air isn’t the temperature dropping yet, but rather the accounting department sending a memo to publish price increases on Annual Passes (probably). Walt Disney World typically doesn’t announce price increases ahead of time, which means that we’ll all likely wake up someday soon and the prices will have jumped overnight. The question is: how much will Walt Disney World Annual Pass prices increase this year? To try and answer that, we wanted to go back and look at recent price increases in the post-COVID era at Walt Disney World.

Recent Annual Pass Price Increases at Walt Disney World

Given how much Walt Disney World pricing strategy has changed in the past 5 years, we’ll only focus on Annual Pass price increases following the COVID-19 shutdowns. Note that the tables below have a start date of September 8, 2021. This is when Walt Disney World introduced new Annual Pass tiers and names. While some of the Annual Passes were close to apples-to-apples for old pass types, there were a number of pass types that didn’t really carry forward. For that reason, we won’t go back further.

Here’s a table of the changes, followed by some thoughts.

Disney Incredi-Pass

This is the highest-tier Annual Pass. It’s also the only Annual Pass offered to non-DVC guests who live outside of the state of Florida.

The Sorcerer Pass is offered to Florida Residents and eligible Disney Vacation Club members. This pass introduces blockout dates during the busiest weeks of the year.

While this article is meant to be informational, I’m also hoping it’s a bit prophetic as well. As you can see, Disney has enjoyed October price increases in each of the last two years. If I had to guess, an Annual Pass price increase is likely around the corner.

Other recent indicators that a price increase could be coming include the September 30th end date of a promotion that offered up to a $100 gift card with the purchase of an Annual Pass. Earlier this summer, Walt Disney World offered a 50% discount on the required down payment for a new Annual Pass. While this offer didn’t change the total price of an Annual Pass, it did offer a lower barrier to entry for guests who were on the payment plan.

Those deals were rather unique, which leads me to believe that sales of Walt Disney World Annual Passes needed a late fiscal 2025 bump. If that is the case, we’d expect any Annual Pass price increases to be on the low end of the scale, somewhere in the 3-5% range versus the 8% range, but that’s pure speculation at this point.

  1. People need to stop buying Lightening Lane and Annual Passes. In 2023 the increases were half, due to the low number renewing. We need to boycott these price increases but not renewing. I stopped renewal of my annual pass in 2020. The prices are ridiculously high and the number of rides and areas open decreasing every year. Perks also decreasing. What substantiates the high cost of passes, tickets and Lightening Lane. Lightening Lane used to be Fast Pass and was FREE!! Lightening Lane was created by Chapek – then Iger said was a wrong move, yet didn’t remove and increases the costs!!

  2. They really hate out of state guests. We have to pay the highest price, all up front. Yet we are the ones that spend the most. We pay for hotel, and food. We don’t go home each night or run into the parks to buy up merch to resell. They need to offer out of state residents payment plan options and the choice to select the lower tiers.

  3. Disney wants you to forget that Fast Pass existed. Especially the fact that they were free. That probably won’t ever come back again.

  4. We stopped the renewal of ours. It got stu-pid expensive. There are no real benefits or perks. We used to go every weekend and dined at their restaurants and bought merchandise for family and friends out of state.
But the prices are ridiculous! A bottle of coke is a great example, it used to be like a dollar and some change, now I think it was closer to 5 dollars the very last time we went there.
Who pays that????? I can tell you that not us. Thankfully we can afford it, but out of principle we won’t pay for it.
I’m think we just gave up on the parks. We now enjoy cheaper and better restaurants in town and travel more. That’s about it.
We boycott Disney! We are also getting rid of their Disney Plus membership. Haven’t renewed it either. We are looking for free and live TV channels. For games, you can always go to the bars or restaurants to watch if you really want. While enjoying good food and drinks.
