The battle between the Actors’ Equity union and Disney continues today with the debut of a brand new show – The Disney Society Orchestra and Friends’. The show is Disney’s answer to the stalemate that they are in with the union. We’re told that the new show will not feature any equity actors.
Here’s a look at the show! For more, check out our post.
Here’s a look at the new logo and showtimes for today.
I hope that is not permanent. I would rather have Beauty and the Beast.
What a ridiculous cop out Disney is resorting to instead of having the beloved Beauty and the Beast live show. For the price of a ticket Disney should be able to pay the well deserved actors in the original production. If the audience can stay awake to see a few non-speaking characters at the end of the orchestra performance, good for them. However, it does not come close to making up for missing a live stage show. Disney, stop cheapening your product and totally disappointing your fans. Bring back the live Beauty and the Beast stage show!

Shame on you Disney!
Really disappointing that we have planned our trip for 2 years and there are no live shows or fireworks AND we’re still paying full ticket price.
Sleeping people, crying children and empty seats! Pay the Actors and move on.
Regarding other’s comments: The dispute between AEA and Disney is over COVID testing and numbers, not as simple as payment.
If sports teams can find the money to test their players, Disney can cough up the money to test the Equity performers. If the company’s hurting, maybe Eisner or one of the former multimillionaire executives will pitch in some of their bonus money. Wouldn’t that be a nice charitable thing for them to do?
I actually like the live music, Beauty and the Beast live on stage is now 30 years old, it’s time for something new and fresh in that theater.
