With Spring Break crowds gone, Walt Disney World is currently experiencing the lowest monthly average wait times of the entire year. Last week, Disney World averaged a 35-minute wait across all four theme parks. That represented the lowest weekly average wait time of 2022, according to historical data from thrill-data.com.
The dip in wait times, and crowds, is expected ahead of what Disney hopes will be a busy summer season. Disney recently recorded a strong quarterly result for its theme parks division to kick off the year, and with the debut of the highly-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster at EPCOT and the return of more entertainment, Disney World is looking to continue a strong year.
While the reprive of Spring Break crowds is welcome for park guests, it’s worth noting that average wait times are the highest they have been in years, possibly ever. Even with a park reservation system that is meant to create a pleasant in-park experience, guests are experiencing an average wait time of more than 40 minutes in 2022. Here’s a look at monthly average wait times going back to July 2021. As you can see, May 2022 is experiencing the lowest average wait times since the start of the 50th Anniversary celebration back in October 2021.
