Disney World Park Pass Theme Park Reservation Requirements & Park Hopping Rules Change In One Week

Starting January 9th, there will be some changes to the Walt Disney World Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system. There will also be changes to the Park Hopping rules. In this article, we’ll give a rundown of the changes that go live a week from today so you can be ready for your 2024 Walt Disney World vacation!

Date-Based Ticket Reservation Changes (Jan. 9)

Starting with visits on January 9, 2024, theme park reservations will no longer be required for date-based tickets. A date-based ticket requires you to choose a start date when you purchase.

For other admission types, theme park reservations may be required.

    No Theme Park Reservation Required

    • Date-based 1-day ticket
    • Date-based multi-day ticket
    • Vacation package with date-based tickets

    Theme Park Reservation Required

    • Student group tickets
    • Sport and Convention ticket
    • Disney Military Salute Ticket
    • Annual Pass
    • All other ticket types not mentioned above

    Park Hopping Changes (Jan. 9)

Beginning January 9, 2024, Guests with a ticket with Park Hopper benefits or an Annual Pass will be able to visit another theme park at any time of day during park hours (subject to capacity limitations). This means no more waiting for 2pm to roll around before you can take advantage of the Park Hopping benefit that you purchased.

On days when theme park reservations are required for Annual Passholders, Passholders will be able to take advantage of updates to Park Hopper access after visiting their first park.

As a reminder, Annual Passholders may visit the theme parks after 2:00 PM without a theme park reservation, except on Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom park. Applicable pass blockout dates apply.

    Annual Passholder Reservation Changes (January)

In addition to Disney Park Pass reservation changes for dated tickets, there are some changes to how Annual Passholders will utilize the Disney Park Pass system in 2024. Disney World has previously announced “good-to-go” days for Annual Passholders. Here’s how those “good-to-go” days will work:

    • On good-to-go days, Annual Passholders may enter the theme parks without needing a reservation (blockout dates will continue to apply like they do today).
    • The theme park reservation calendar, Annual Passholder admissions calendar and My Disney Experience app will show days that are good-to-go. The first good-to-go days will be added to the calendars starting Jan. 11, 2024.
    • Good-to-go days will be added periodically and may be released days or weeks in advance.

With the return of all-day Park Hopper access, Passholders can enter another Walt Disney World theme park any time during park hours. Annual Passholders may also continue to visit without a park reservation after 2 p.m. unless visiting Magic Kingdom Park on a Saturday or Sunday (blockout dates continue to apply).
