I-4 Eastbound World Drive Exit to Walt Disney World Now Permanently Split

|

Interstate 4 eastbound traffic exiting toward World Drive has received a permanent change to how the ramp works. Florida’s Moving I-4 Forward program has released a new graphic showing the single exit at World Drive and State Road 417, Exit 62, splitting into two separate ramps. Those ramps are labeled 62A and 62B. Guests headed to Walt Disney World will want Exit 62B, since it leads to World Drive northbound, the route visitors should use to reach the theme parks and resorts.

What the New Exit 62A and 62B Split Means for Walt Disney World Guests

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • I-4 eastbound’s exit to World Drive is being split into two permanently separated ramps.
  • Exit 62A leads to World Drive southbound, while Exit 62B leads to World Drive northbound and S.R. 417 northbound.
  • World Drive northbound is the ramp most Walt Disney World guests will want.

Drivers previously took a single exit off I-4 eastbound to reach World Drive. From there, additional ramps would take guests where they wanted to go. Under the new configuration, that single exit divides into two distinct ramps. Exit 62A peels off first. It carries traffic to World Drive southbound. Exit 62B follows next, a little further down the road. It carries traffic to both World Drive northbound and, eventually, S.R. 417 northbound.

These two exits at World Drive will be permanently separated. Drivers utilizing I-4 eastbound will want to familiarize themselves with the change to choose the correct ramp.

Which Ramp Walt Disney World Guests Will Want

For guests looking to visit Walt Disney World, World Drive northbound is the route into the resort. It leads toward all theme parks and resort areas. That means visitors driving in from the Lakeland and Tampa directions will want to take Exit 62B, not Exit 62A. Exit 62A instead serves World Drive southbound, an area guests would only use for other purposes off-property. That said, if you use Exit 62A, it’s not impossible to navigate back to Walt Disney World, just inconvenient.

Once you use Exit 62B, the rest of the drive up World Drive through the heart of Walt Disney World should be familiar.

This ramp split is a state project and completely separate from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District’s ongoing World Drive North project. That effort has been widening World Drive and Floridian Way between the Magic Kingdom toll plaza and the Grand Floridian and Polynesian resort area for years. It was also delayed roughly 15 months to a new late 2027 completion date.

Guests can find additional details on the Moving I-4 Forward website’s construction updates page.
