New Grand Floridian Entrance Opens Sept. 10
Guests driving toward Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort will find new signage along the roadway. It points to a September 10th opening date for a new resort entrance. The signage does not explain what exactly is changing, and Walt Disney World has not made a public announcement about the update. Walt Disney World did not respond to a request for more information about the changes.
This latest change follows a permit approved by the South Florida Water Management District last November. That permit laid out plans to extend the Grand Floridian’s main entrance roadway roughly 200 feet, connecting it to a new roundabout as part of the World Drive North Phase III project. Those plans were first filed in September 2025. They also called for converting the existing Floridian Way roadway into a one-lane, one-way exit route, and for building a new entrance to the Grand Floridian wedding pavilion south of its current location.
Currently, guests use the main entrance to enter Grand Floridian that has been in use for decades. The photo from Bioreconstruct above shows the in-use roundabout connecting to the Grand Floridian main entrance that guests are familiar with.
A Roadway Still in Motion
Guests currently reach Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort by way of the new roundabouts along Floridian Way. Those roundabouts opened to traffic on August 10th. The shift routed guests onto newly built southbound lanes, with temporary connector driveways left in place at the entrances to the Grand Floridian, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and the Grand Floridian wedding pavilion.
It is unclear whether September 10th marks the debut of the permanent extended entrance outlined in the approved permit, or just another interim step. The World Drive North Phase III project is not expected to be fully completed until December 2027. More changes to the area are likely between now and then. Guests driving to the Grand Floridian in the coming days should watch for new signage. Construction and law enforcement remain active in the area, so drive cautiously.
