Fourth of July at Disney World

Happy Independence Day!

Today you can celebrate Independence Day at the happiest place on earth. Disney World will have Fourth of July celebrations at three of its four theme parks. Here’s the run down:

Magic Kingdom – “Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky”

This is not your normal Wishes fireworks show. While a majority of fireworks do launch from the normal Wishes launch pad (behind Beasts Castle in Fantasyland) Disney has also incorporated “perimeter” fireworks for a 360 degree view of the show. I was able to watch the “test run” last night and I really enjoyed watching from Fantasyland. If you do want to watch from Main Street I would suggest finding a spot at least 2 hours before the show (even earlier the closer to the castle and larger your party)

Hollywood Studios – “A rockin’ Fourth of July Celebration”

This rock n’ roll spectacular centers around the (now permanent) stage set up in front of the giant Sorcerer Mickey hat. Disney promises rock n’ roll music and amazing fireworks to celebrate America. I will be in Hollywood Studios tonight to check this out and if it’s anything like the Star Wars Weekends fireworks show it will surely be amazing. Best viewing for this would be right down Hollywood Blvd and if that’s full then head on over to Echo Lake.

Epcot – “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth – 4th of July”

Disney calls this a fresh take on Illuminations. I would expect a similar show with a highlight on America and some new fireworks. If you’ve ever been to Illuminations you know that this show can be viewed from all around the World Showcase.

While I’m sure Disney will do a great job with all of the shows I personally think the 360 degree fireworks in Magic Kingdom are the coolest Disney fireworks I’ve seen yet. Wherever you celebrate tonight have fun and be safe!
