Latest COVID-19 Models Revise Florida Peak to April 21st from Early-May; Disney Parks Remain Closed Indefinitely

According to an April 6th update to Healthdata.org, expected peak impacts to the state of Florida from Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been revised to April 21st from early May.

In the graph below, models predict that the peak hospital resource utilization will occur on April 21st, nearly 2 weeks earlier than the previously predicted date of May 3rd.

Walt Disney World remains closed indefinitely as The Walt Disney Company does what it can to remove the theme parks and resorts from the conversation of community spread of the COVID-19 virus.

A notable date as it relates to the Disney parks is June 1st. That is the current date that Disney is accepting new reservations for as of publish time. The June 1st date appears to be consistent with the model above as the start of a period of nearly statistically negligible projected hospital resource utilization as it relates to the COVID-19 virus.

Of course, The Walt Disney Company has taken some unprecedented steps to protect the future of the company such as furloughing workers beginning April 19th and canceling the Fall Disney College Program with arrivals in June 2020.

The Walt Disney World Resort closed its theme parks on March 16th and all resorts by March 20th.
