Florida Extends State of Emergency Due to COVID-19

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has extended the state of emergency for the state of Florida via executive order today. The 60-day extension is seemingly more of an administrative action than anything else as travel bans have been lifted and the major theme parks that drive the economy have long-since reopened.

As a matter of fact, Disney World is expected to be the tourism hot spot this Labor Day weekend, with Disney World area hotels taking 4 out of the 5 top booking destinations in the entire United States.

That said, visitation is still very low when compared to the pre-COVID-19 operations, and the remainder of September looks to continue the trend of low wait times that we’ve seen since mid-July.
