A new permit filed with the state hints at upcoming World Showcase Lagoon work as Disney continues to prepare for the new nighttime spectacular – Harmonious.

The permit lists the work to be done as “Installation of anchors to provide additional mooring for center barge”. As far as recently filed permits go, this one is exceptionally descriptive and leaves no need to read between the lines. The location listed for the permit is the center element in World Showcase Lagoon, seen below. The permit has an expiration date of December 2021, but the work should be done before then.

As you can see below, the circular centerpiece barge is massive when compared to the four perimeter LED screen barges that would already be comparable to the Illuminations globe.

What remains to be seen is if these show set pieces will remain on the World Showcase Lagoon “permanently”, or if they will be floated out onto the lagoon nightly before the show. Insiders suggest that these could be out on the lagoon “permanently” as their size is already going to be a tight fit along the waterway that runs from backstage storage areas onto World Showcase Lagoon.

Harmonious is rumored to debut next year, although Disney has not provided an official opening date for the new show.

As you can see in the photo below, the LED barges will be scattered throughout the lagoon and include lighting elements that are sure to bring World Showcase to life.

Here’s a closer look at the LED screens, of which there will be four scattered around World Showcase Lagoon. You can even see the expanding arm that will shoot lighting into the sky.
