Plexiglass Test Adds Dividers to Ride Vehicle at “it’s a small world” in Magic Kingdom

Disney World is testing more plexiglass on a new attraction in Magic Kingdom – “it’s a small world”. The slow-moving boat ride is currently loading up to two parties per boat, keeping a couple of rows of space between parties as a response to social distancing.

Now, Disney has one boat on the happiest cruise that ever set sail with plexiglass dividers to allow for more parties to board at one time. By installing hard plastic dividers, Disney hopes to run the attraction at full capacity like they are able to do with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and other attractions that have received plexiglass dividers. Plexiglass dividers are still under “testing” as most of the boats don’t have the dividers installed yet.

We took a cruise around the world this morning and captured some photos and video of the experience of sitting in the back row with the plexiglass dividers stacked in front of us. As with other attractions that have plexiglass installed, catching a glare is a real problem, perhaps more so on “it’s a small world” given how the scenes are lit. Here’s our experience.

Here’s a look at a particularly bad glare and the lighting behind the boat that caused it.

    1. That is truly ridiculous! We know we are taking a risk going to Disney. We don’t need a plastic shield on every single attraction. They are bad enough on some of the rides as it is. This only means they will increase to 100% capacity in the parks. Bad move!
