Disneyland Paris has rolled out a new pricing system for its theme park tickets that is quite similar to how airline pricing works. In short, each individual day ticket pricing can change “based on factors such as seasonality and demand”. This is a stark departure from how Disney theme park ticket prices are typically set. Typically, pricing is set at a single price for a single day.
Disneyland Paris Airline-Style Adaptive Ticket Pricing
A new adaptive ticket pricing is now in effect for Disneyland Paris, which means that if you’re looking to purchase a date-based ticket to the theme parks, that ticket price can fluctuate based on seasonality and demand – similar to how airline tickets work.
For example, a visit to Disneyland Paris on March 14th is $102 per person as of the writing of this article. In the past, you’d be able to expect that price to remain the same between now and then, with the exception of perhaps an annual price hike.
Under the new system, that price can change tomorrow, next week, next month, or three days before you visit based on factors such as demand. If the date that you want to visit becomes more popular between today and the date you want to visit, the price can change at any point between now and when you ultimately purchase the ticket. Once you purchase a ticket, your price and dates are locked in.
Officially, here’s how Disneyland Paris describes their new ticketing system:
Our Dated ticket prices are subject to variation and may change for the same visit date based on factors such as seasonality and demand.
The selected prices are applicable until the end of the 60-minute booking session, subject to availability of the chosen date being confirmed before payment.
When the session expires, prices will be subject to variation again.
There has been no announced change to the way that ticket prices are set for any of Disney’s other theme parks, including Walt Disney World. That said, Disneyland Paris has operated as sort of a testing ground for upcharge offerings in recent years, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a similar system implemented for Disney’s domestic theme parks.
