Following the removal of signage from atop the former Hester & Chester’s Dinosaur Treasures gift shop, Disney has installed a time-lapse camera to document the construction of an all-new Encanto-themed ride. We made it out to Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently to take a look!
Time-lapse Camera Installed for Tropical Americas Construction
As you can see in our photos below, an EarthCam time-lapse camera has been installed at the peak of one of the rooflines of the former Dinosaur Treasures gift shop. Disney likes to take time-lapse photography of construction projects to utilize later for either promotional material or documentation. Here’s a look!

This is an ideal spot for a time-lapse camera because this particular building will not be demolished. In fact, it will be utilized in Tropical Americas, although it remains to be seen if it’ll still be a gift shop when the new land opens in 2027 or if it will have a new use.
In the annotated concept art below, you can see that the Dinosaur Treasures buildings will remain, nearly exactly as they sit today. We can also see that a camera on the side of the building pointed toward the Encanto construction site will provide a wonderful view.

In our photo of the scale model below, we can see that the time-lapse camera will provide not only a wonderful view of Casita but also some of the massive show building that will house the ride behind it – similar to how The Haunted Mansion is presented at Magic Kingdom.
