Walt Disney World Suffers Another Power Surge, Multiple Attractions Closed

|

Walt Disney World appears to have suffered another power surge this evening as strong thunderstorms move through the area. A number of indoor attractions that would typically not close for weather-related issues are currently closed across multiple theme parks. Of course, outdoor attractions are also closed, but that is to be expected during inclement weather. Here’s what we’re seeing.

Attractions Close Following Walt Disney World Power Surge

Reports of power grid issues started rolling in around 7:20pm, with attractions closing shortly thereafter. As of publish time, Disney’s Hollywood Studios appears to be the most affected, with multiple attractions closed. Attractions such as Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, Smugglers Run, and more indoor attractions would typically operate during inclement weather. At Magic Kingdom, Space Mountain and TRON Lightcycle Run appeared to be affected by the weather. At EPCOT, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Journey into Imagination with Figment appear to be impacted.

Walt Disney World will endeavor to reopen the attractions as soon as possible, but there is typically no knowing just how long the attractions will remain closed. Outdoor attractions that are not affected by the power surge will resume operations once the inclement weather clears.

Thankfully, this power surge doesn’t appear to be as widespread as the power surge that closed more than 40 attractions back in late August.
