Construction on Tron Coaster at Magic Kingdom to Begin Next Week; Completion Date Revealed

|

According to documents filed with the state, work on the Tron project is set to begin on February 6, 2018. The permit also lists a completion date of August 16, 2021 – just in time for Magic Kingdom’s 50th Anniversary on October 1, 2021. Of course, the completion date listed above shouldn’t be confused with an opening date for the attraction, just a date where the work needs to be completed by, according to state documents.

Announced at D23, the Tron coaster will change the landscape of Tomorrowland dramatically once finished. It’ll sit next to Space Mountain and it will also impact the Walt Disney World Railroad and Tomorrowland Speedway.

Earlier permits show the scope and scale of the project, as seen next to Space Mountain.

We first spotted survey crews in the area a few months ago.

As always, we’ll continue to keep you updated as the project progresses with photos and video of the whole process!
