According to a report from Florida Politics, the Florida Attorney General is seeking documents related to any conversations by the former Reedy Creek Improvement District that may not be above board. A public records request was made by the Office of the Attorney General for documents “discussing an intention or goal of circumventing, avoiding, frustrating, mitigating, or otherwise attempting to avoid the effects of anticipated actions by the Florida Governor or Florida Legislature”.
The request comes a day after a clearly frustrated Board of Supervisors complained that a deal struck by the former Reedy Creek Improvement District and Walt Disney World has limited their powers. In a statement last night, Disney defended their agreement with the Reedy Creek Improvement District, noting that “All agreements signed between Disney and the District were appropriate, and were discussed and approved in open, noticed public forums in compliance with Florida’s Government in the Sunshine law.” The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board of Supervisors is preparing a legal battle against Walt Disney World.
The public records request from the Florida Attorney General is just the latest in the culture war saga from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who was unhappy that Disney decided to speak out against legislation that critics say was designed to marginalize LGBTQ+ individuals. Disney said that they opposed the “Don’t Say Gay” law and that they were “committed to supporting” organizations that would work to strike down the law.

Disney outmaneuvered those Neanderthal clowns and now they’re squealing.
Hats off to Disney, job well done!
I’ve read Desantis and company have hired 4 law firms (one billing at just under $800/hour) to keep this petulant feud going…taxpayer dollars I assume are funding it while his initial supposed reason for going after Disney was to make them (but not the roughly 200 other FL companies with similar tax/governing deals) pay their “fair share”. This is tax dollars that should be spent on something other than trying to get Desantis his next job.
Now I understand why Disney has been so quiet about this: working 24/7 on some amazing strategy, and letting DeSantis fire the first shot puts them at the advantage. Bravo, Disney!
Most of the rules are reasonable..Disney can operate the theme park like it has for 50 years. Tourists keep coming. And the new board can’t act like it represents Disney by using the names or logos. ( which seems like what DeSantis wanted. To promote the area for tourism his way)
They’re still free to do what they want outside of the parks.
Florida needs to get its priorities straight.
The whole state takeover thing sounds communist.
What buisness is it to the state what kind of entertainment Disney has.
Amazing what people will sell out too to fuel their own greedy ambitions. What’s happening to our country.
It looks like “the mouse” outsmarted Ron De Facist!
I hope Disney can withstand the coming attacks from
The Governors cronies. Anyway, I think and hope
that Disney has better lawyers and alot more money
than Florida has. Florida is no longer the Sunshine
State. Florida is where Freedom Goes to Die!
Stop wasting the tax payers money on this vendetta!
But we are most free state in the nation. How can government tell a company how to operate… sounds authoritarian which is not freedom.
Those who bash other people’s beliefs are simply jealous. This guy just needs to come out of the closet about his orientation
It’s ok we are the most free state in the nation.
