PHOTOS: Pirates of the Caribbean Courtyard Replaced By New ‘Beak and Barrel’ Bar

|

With construction walls down around the new Beak and Barrel tavern, we’re getting a first look at how some of the areas around the bar have changed. Perhaps the biggest change beyond the previously documented gift shop takeover is the loss of a courtyard that was visible from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction queue. We stopped by Magic Kingdom this morning to take a look at the loss of the courtyard and what it looks like now that the bar has taken over the space.

Pirates of the Caribbean Courtyard Replaced by Bar

First, we’ll start with a look back at the courtyard area. In recent years, the courtyard wasn’t accessible, but it was an example of theming going the extra mile at the world’s busiest theme park.

And here’s a look at the area from our visit today, following the recent removal of construction walls. The new Beak and Barrel tavern pushed into the courtyard space, replacing it completely. Now, with new walls in place, the Pirates of the Caribbean queue is a much darker space. Note that we have edited our photos to artificially introduce more light so that details are easier to see.

Some “backstage”-looking doorways are visible from the Lightning Lane queue. The door on the left in the photo below would, theoretically, lead toward the Captain’s Quarters room, while the door on the right would lead to the Mess Hall. A kitchen door appears straight ahead.
