Construction Walls Arrive at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Ahead of Entrance Reimagining

|

Good morning from Magic Kingdom, where construction walls are now surrounding the entrance to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. As you may recall, the attraction has been closed since last Summer, and is scheduled to reopen sometime this Spring. While all of the work has been internal so far, changes are coming to the attraction’s entrance soon. Here’s what we know.

Construction Walls Arrive at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

With the attraction scheduled to reopen this Spring, finishing touches are underway inside the ride. All-new ride vehicles, improved blasters, and new targets have been installed. We’ve received a couple of sneak peeks inside the ride, showcasing brand new and refreshed scenes. Now, work is about to begin outside of the attraction.

As we previously reported, a permit filed earlier this month suggests that we’ll see new signage at the attraction. While there was some question on whether or not the signage would be inside the ride or outside, that doubt seems to have been removed now. The arrival of construction walls very likely indicates that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will receive a new marquee as part of a reimagining of the entrance. Here’s a look!

The exterior queue remains outside of the construction walls. We have previously hoped for a more robust queue situation (indoors and outdoors), but it may be too late in the project to begin a redesign here. The fact that the exterior queue is outside of the construction walls doesn’t bode well for change.

Hopping on the Tomorrowland PeopleMover, we can see that not much has happened on the other side of the walls yet. It’s likely that we’ll start to see movement this week and possibly continue work into February.
