Find Merchandise Pilot Expands to All Guests in My Disney Experience App

Walt Disney World has expanded the Find Merchandise tool to all guests in the My Disney Experience app. The feature first showed up in a limited test last November, but only for a subset of guests. Now, anyone can pull it up and check whether a specific item is available during this still-limited pilot. Here’s how it works.

‘Find Merchandise’ Feature Now Available to All Guests in My Disney Experience App

  • Search by keyword, scan top products, or tap a trending tag
  • Live results still only cover the World of Disney store at Disney Springs
  • Product pages show price, item number, and a “Check Shop Availability” button that maps the result

Finding the Tool Has Gotten Easier

The biggest change is access. During the November test, guests could only locate the tool from the homepage. Even then, the feature only appeared for a fraction of guests, as we covered when the test first went live.

Now you can type “find merchandise” into the app’s search bar and tap the “Find Merchandise – Now Testing!” result. Disney still labels the tool as a test, so the underlying feature carries the same limits it did before.

How the Search Works

Tap “Start Searching,” and you land on the main search page. From there, you can enter a keyword, browse the top products Disney surfaces, or tap a trending tag. The current trending row lists Pins, Spirit Jersey, and Plush.

A keyword search returns a grid of matching items with names and prices. Searching “Mickey Mouse” pulled up multiple options, including the Mickey Mouse Plush-LC Recycled Mickey at $44.99, the Mickey Mouse Plush-MC Recycled Mickey at $29.99, and the Mickey Mouse Club Mickey SMC Plush at $49.99.

What a Product Page Tells You

Tap an item, and you get a full product page. The Mickey Mouse Club Mickey Plush page shows the $49.99 price, a Product Details section, and a “Check Shop Availability” button at the bottom.

Tap that button and the tool checks stock. For the Mickey Mouse Club plush, it returned one result: in stock at the World of Disney store at Disney Springs. A “Show Map” button flips the result to a Walt Disney World map with the store pinned, and “Show List” flips it back.

As of right now, the expanded pilot is still limited to just the World of Disney store in Disney Springs, even if all guests can now access the tool.

Still Limited to World of Disney

The expansion is about who can use the tool, not an expansion of supported locations. A banner on the results screen still says that you only see results for the World of Disney store at Disney Springs.

That means the feature won’t help you track down an item across the four parks, the resort hotels, or the rest of Disney Springs… yet.

What’s Next

Opening the tool to every guest is a clear step toward a wider launch, and it suggests Disney is comfortable enough with the system to put it in front of the full app audience. The single-store limit is the next thing to watch.

Disney hasn’t said when or if the search tool will expand, although we imagine that plans are in the works to bring more locations online. We’ll keep tracking the rollout as it expands.
