Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort remains closed for refurbishment. Disney’s original timeline called for the outdoor lounge to reopen weeks ago. The venue’s official Walt Disney World dining page still lists Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace as closed, with no reopening date posted. We have reached out to Walt Disney World for more information and have not yet heard back. It also looks like construction in the area is expanding.

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Closure Extends Past Original Timeline

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace remains closed with no reopening date
  • Disney’s original refurbishment window ran from mid-April through late June

Disney’s original refurbishment notice tied the closure to exterior work at the Great Ceremonial House. The original notice set a mid-April through late June window, and that window has now well passed. Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace’s official Walt Disney World dining page still reads, “Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is currently closed for refurbishment. Please check back here for updates.” No new opening date has been posted, and there are no hours listed on the webpage. Here is the original closure notice:

From midโ€‘April through late June, Trader Samโ€™s Tiki Terrace at Disneyโ€™s Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily closed due to refurbishment work at the Grand Ceremonial House. Guests may see or hear refurbishment work during daytime hours until the work is complete.

We reached out to Walt Disney World for more information on the extended timeline. We’ll be sure to update you if we learn more about a reopening timeframe.

In the meantime, the indoor Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto remains open to guests.

Story So Far

  • January 20th: Disney confirmed exterior maintenance had begun at the Great Ceremonial House, warning that views from the neighboring ‘Ohana restaurant would be partially or fully obstructed.
  • April 18th: Scaffolding had expanded to fully envelop the north-facing section of the Great Ceremonial House, and Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace closed to guests as crews worked in the area.
  • Disney’s refurbishment notice listed a mid-April through late June timeline for the Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace closure specifically, tied to the broader Great Ceremonial House work.
