As we get closer to the reopening of Walt Disney World, we’re getting more info about what types of transportation will be available when the theme parks reopen. Earlier today, we noted that the Disney Skyliner gondola system will be in operation and that Disney plans on a partial resumption of the monorail system.
Now, we have word from multiple sources that the parking lot tram service won’t be offers when the theme parks reopen. While we haven’t heard official word from Disney yet, guests will reportedly have to walk from their cars to the theme park entrances.
As of publish time, it’s unclear what forms of transportation will be offered to get guests from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the main entrance of Magic Kingdom. Monorails will be running, but we don’t have word yet on the possible use of buses or ferries.
As with any rumor, you should treat this information as unofficial unless and until Disney confirms it.
As always, keep checking back with us here at BlogMickey.com for the latest Disney Parks news and photos. We’ll continue to bring you news and photos, where possible, through the Disney Parks closure due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and will resume our normal coverage once the parks reopen to guests on July 11th!
A little odd considering the gondolas and monorails are small enclosed spaces. On the other hand, perhaps they think it would require too many CMs to manage the people trying to board a tram, which is chaos in the best of times.
THey could group families in the gandolas and the individual cars in the monorail. You can’t control groups on a tram,
Are they going to get rid of the trams permanently or is this temporary until normal operations?
More than likely, at only 25% capacity AND with the (unfortunate) new paradigm that we’re all used to, due to all of the park entrance construction over the last couple of years, of walking quite some distance from the temporary tram drop offs anyway, they’re simply reducing (re)start-up costs.
This way, they don’t have to do anything at all to sanitize the trams and, in fact, don’t even have to have cast members operate them. Instead, they can either 1) keep those CMs laid-off or 2) redeploy them to some of the necessary extra sanitation tasks that they’ve said they’re going to be implementing.
