UPDATE: Disney World No Longer Digitally Adding Face Masks to Guests’ On-Ride Photos

Disney has stopped their test of digitally adding face masks to guests faces who were either not wearing a face mask or wearing it improperly for on-ride photos.

Back on December 3rd, BlogMickey.com broke the story that Disney was testing digitally adding photos to guests faces who were not in compliance with the face mask policy. In our story, we said that the test was being conducted in Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

After we wrote about the test, guests began posting their photos on social media of the test on the Dinosaur attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. BlogMickey.com sources also indicated that the test was taking place on the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin attraction in Magic Kingdom.

Now, a Disney spokesperson has released a statement that they are no longer modifying on-ride photos (via USA Today):

In response to guest requests, we tested modifying some ride photos. We are no longer doing this and continue to expect guests to wear face coverings except when actively eating or drinking while stationary.
Jacquee Wahler, Disney Spokesperson

It’s unclear what, if anything, Disney plans on doing when guests are out of compliance while on an attraction, but signage has been posted around the theme parks to note that guests not complying with the face mask rules will be asked to leave.

As always, keep checking back with us here at BlogMickey.com as we continue to bring you the latest news, photos, and info from around the Disney Parks!

  1. I’d like to think that at least some of the selfish bozos who don’t comply (a minority by all accounts) are actually made to leave, but I somehow doubt this happens.
