Disney World Asks Guests If They Prefer Virtual Queue System or Standby Lines

If you have visited EPCOT since Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened, you may have received a survey asking you how you’d prefer to experience the attraction. As a reminder, Cosmic Rewind is currently operating with a Virtual Queue system in place. This means that guests can only experience Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind by signing up for a free spot in a Virtual Queue via the My Disney Experience app – guests can not join a standby line. The Virtual Queue system was widely used starting with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in December 2019, and then expanded to other popular attractions like Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. The idea behind a Virtual Queue is that Disney will be able to save you a spot in line and then call you back to an attraction when it is your time to ride with a minimal wait time. Now, Disney is asking guests if they like that system or if they’d rather wait in line. Let’s take a look at a survey we recently received.

Questions about the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Virtual Queue started by asking how you tried to interact with the Virtual Queue system.

Disney then asked what you didn’t know about the Virtual Queue. Interestingly, they mostly listed things that could be perceived as negatives or drawbacks of the Virtual Queue system.

Then they asked the big question. Essentially, they asked if you liked the Virtual Queue system. The question was posed with the example of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, but it was asked in a way that really was getting at the heart of the matter – do guests like the Virtual Queue system?

    1. Who would say they love the virtual queue? This is the perfect example of how Disney does not read or follow any of the blogs that cater to long attending guess. The only people that would ever say that they like the virtual queue in Disney would be someone who’s never been to Disney on a vacation and spent the entire vacation not being able to go on a ride because of a virtual queue. Just have two lines like all the other rides, one that you can make and pay for like the lightning lane like the old, fast pass, and a line that people can stand in and wait if they choose to.

    2. I think the virtual ques are limited and the genie system is also too constricted and time consuming. Disney should use a fast pass system like universal as you would pay one price to use an express lane all day for the majority of rides or have the option to use the regular lines if you dont want to spend the extra money. It works well and doesn’t put you on time restrictions all day. It definitely works!

    3. As much as we have benefited from fast passes I believe they’re A solution looking for the problem. Rides were designed to churn through people like a wood chipper, most of them are omnimover based and can handle a continuous flow. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve waited in the standby line while some cast member held us back because they saw someone in the fastpass lane over the horizon. Let the rides do what they’re designed to do, process a continual flow of people.

    4. Let’s go back to the old original fastpass system. It worked well and was fair for everyone. I am getting sick and tired of spending each day of my vacation NOT being able to get on ANY popular ride.
