Scaffolding Arrives Behind Millennium Falcon in Galaxy’s Edge

While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, we stopped by Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to find a couple of projects underway. We’ve already taken a look at new signage that renames the former Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser docking bay, but there’s more! While walking past the extensively modified Corellian light freighter, we noticed some scaffolding behind the Millennium Falcon.

When we visited, the Smugglers Run attraction was unexpectedly closed, so we couldn’t enter the queue, but we could see some of the scaffolding behind the Millennium Falcon. It looks like the scaffolding is relatively new. It’s unclear what work is taking place, but we’d bet on some paint touchups, either on the Falcon itself or on the nearby building.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, already a popular ride, will likely see a surge in popularity in May when a new mission featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu debuts. For the first time ever, the crew will be in control of their own destination, leading to potential adventures on Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor, or the just-announced bustling city-planet, Coruscant. Another new gameplay addition allows the engineer positions to communicate with Grogu during the mission.

While the Mando & Grogu update to the Smugglers Run attraction debuts the same day as The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters, the attraction’s storyline will follow a different path.

In this new thrilling storyline, Hondo Ohnaka has gotten wind of a deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a band of pirates. There’s a generous bounty for their capture, so you’ll borrow the iconic ship and team up with Mando and Grogu to track them down and explore the galaxy.
