Preparations Underway to Block Access to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Beachfront

Walt Disney World has begun preparations to block access to the beachfront at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. There has been no official statement on the change, and we’ve reached out to Disney for comment. The setup likely ties to the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, when the beach becomes a popular vantage point for the Magic Kingdom fireworks across Seven Seas Lagoon.

Green scrim fencing is up along the walkways leading to the beach, closing off the paths that normally connect the resort to the shoreline. The barriers run in sections across the concrete, blocking access to prime beachfront firework viewing locations.

Out on the beach itself, the resort’s Adirondack chairs sit in rows facing the water and Magic Kingdom. Meanwhile, a run of scrim separates a portion of the sand near the fire pit. It’s unclear exactly how the sections will work.

The scrim extends down to the boat dock, where the launch to Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa runs. Barriers are up near the dock entrance as well. The chairs remain oriented toward the water, with the full stretch of sand facing the lagoon.

Fourth of July Fireworks at Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom will run “Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” at 9:00pm on July 3, July 4, and July 5. The Polynesian’s beach faces the castle across Seven Seas Lagoon, which makes it one of the more popular resort vantage points for the show.

Beachfront viewing areas at Magic Kingdom-area resorts are frequently restricted during major fireworks nights to manage crowds. The Fourth of July ranks among the busiest of the year. It is likely that Disney Cast Members will be stationed to only allow access to the beachfront to registered resort guests.

We’ve reached out to Disney and will update this article with any official word on the beachfront setup. We’ll also be keeping an eye on pedestrian restrictions, which could return for the busy holiday period.
