A couple of days ago we showed you that an array of projectors had been installed in front of Tower of Terror, and it looks like Disney is wasting no time putting them to work. Disney has now begun overnight testing of the Sunset Seasons Greetings projection show on the Tower of Terror facade. There are 4 different “character moments” for the show. Let’s take a look at each.
First up is the most recognizable of the moments captured in photos, the gingerbread house scene. Here’s how Disney describes it:
The Swedish Chef from The Muppets babbling as only he can while the scene turns into giant gingerbread houses.
Next is what we believe will be the hometown Christmas scene with Mickey and Minnie:
Mickey and Minnie reminiscing about a hometown Christmas as the scene shifts into a romanticized, Norman Rockwell-inspired town—starting in black and white before slowly changing into color.
This looks to be the scene represented in the concept art.
Next up is the Toy Story scene:
The Toy Story characters guessing which new toys are coming this Christmas as the scene becomes covered in holiday wrapping paper.
Finally, photos of what we think is the Frozen scene:
Olaf pining over his holiday wish as iconic music plays and the scene freezes over into a Frozen winter wonderland—complete with dancing Aurora Borealis lights and projected falling snow.
Of course, these are rough photos taken quite some distance from Tower of Terror and at an odd angle. The projections will be much, much clearer once viewed in person and from Sunset Blvd, as intended. Nevertheless, it’s great news that Disney is testing as we’re just over 2 weeks from the debut of the new show!
Sunset Seasons Greetings debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on November 9th and will run through December 31st.
