Good afternoon from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where there is an exterior transformation taking place for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster building. In addition, the giant guitar at the entrance to the attraction is receiving a psychedelic paint job to welcome The Electric Mayhem. Here’s a look at the current progress!
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Guitar Repainting for Muppets Takeover
Before we take a look at the latest paint applied to the giant guitar, here’s a look at previously released concept art for the transformation.
It will be interesting to see how close the final product gets to that look because it feels like we’re already seeing a diversion from the red base that the guitar in the concept art appears to retain.
We’ll start with a check-in on the stretch limo at the entrance gate to the attraction. To my untrained eye, it looks like there has been a slightly glossy sealant applied here, so I believe that this will be the final look for the vehicle.
Moving on to the courtyard, we can see hints of the new paint being applied to the guitar. Before we get to that, though, some new grey has caught our eye. Here’s a before/current of the building repainting.
It’ll be interesting to see if the whole building implements this new grey color scheme. Here’s a photo for posterity of the rest of the building and the current beige color scheme.
A peek into the queue shows that there is some repainting going on. We could see some areas taped off, but didn’t notice any new grey paint color here just yet.
Turning our attention back to the guitar, we can see two dominant colors: blue and pink. These are not represented, in this quantity, in the concept art, but it’s possible that the colors will be layered, much like the car was throughout the repainting process.
