Following a test a few months ago at Walt Disney World, the Disneyland Resort has begun to test the AI-powered self-checkout. A tweet from thecalibae on Twitter showed the familiar machines and setup at the Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta quick-service venue in Disney California Adventure. Here’s a look!

AI-Powered Self-Checkout at the Disneyland Resort

As you can see in the tweet below, the AI-powered self-checkout machines first spotted at the All-Star Sports Resort in Walt Disney World are now installed at Disney California Adventure theme park.

The machines allow guests to collect their food and drink items, and then set them under a camera which utilizes AI training to detect what’s on the tray. A nearby touchscreen provides an itemized total, allowing guests to perform a self-checkout without the need for a Cast Member interaction.

  1. Awesome. If there’s one place I don’t want to interact with people- especially in food service- it’s an immersive theme park I paid $200 to enter. I love feeling like I’m in a mid-tier airport or Apple Store.
